Meet Katie

With over 15 years of experience in the field of special education, Katie Baseden brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her work. She has taught in diverse settings, including public schools in New York and New Jersey, as well as a private international school in Brussels, Belgium. In addition to her teaching roles, Katie has worked as an early intervention provider and academic tutor.

Katie holds degrees in Elementary and Special Education, as well as a Master’s in Literacy Education. Her approach to education is holistic, focusing on academic, social, behavioral, and life skills support. She understands the unique needs of each student and tailors her strategies to foster growth and success.

As a mother of two young children, ages 8 and 6, Katie brings a personal perspective to her work with families. She is passionate about helping parents and caregivers navigate the complexities of special education, offering guidance on managing challenges at school, home, and in the community. Katie is skilled in helping families navigate the IEP process and provides home-based services that create a positive, supportive environment for children's development. She offers practical strategies for building strong, positive relationships with children.

Katie is also committed to promoting inclusive learning environments. She provides consultative services to schools, helping them develop effective strategies to support neurodivergent learners and strengthen their overall approach to inclusive education.​
